Psalm 100:4-5: "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His coursts with praise: be thankful unto Him and bless His name. 5. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations."
We should be the most thankful people in the world. As Christians we get to go to heaven and as Americans we get to live in the USA. Even if the latter was not true, we should still be thankful people. Why should we be thankful? I. We should be thankful because of God's eternal presence. A. "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving." 1.This was a call to enter the gates of the temple with thanksgiving. 2. Today, we are God's temples, for God's Spirit indwells us. This means that we live inside the gates. 3. We should be thankful because of His daily presence in our lives. B. "(Enter) into His courts with praise." 1. We should praise HIm because we live in His courts. 2. Christ's presence through the Spirit fills our hearts to overflowing so that we utter thanksgiving and praise to His holy name. B. "Be thankful unto Him and bless (praise) His name..." 1. Jesus is enough to evoke praise from us. 2. We can praise Him because Christ always who and what He is: our Savior and Lord who saves us and sustains us in all of life. II. We should be thankful because of some of God's attributes. A. "For the Lord is good....." 1. The Lord is all good. 2. He is good to us. 3. He is good for us. B. "His mercy is everlasting." 1. God is the the God of mercy. 2 We should be thankful that God is not just a God of justice. Then we would get what we deserve instead of mercy and grace. C. "His truth endureth to all generations." Thank God His truth is eternal truth. We should be thankful. Are you thankful? Are you thankful to Him that all the things in the text are true and are important to our lives.
